If your X10 system consists of a desktop timer and a couple of modules, chances are you won't encounter signal-strength problems. But if you're using several X10 switches, modules and controllers throughout the house and want to assure maximum reliability, you'll need to supplement your system with these FilterLinc Plug-In Noise Filters! Available in 5- and 10-amp versions, these dual-function filters not only block unwanted interference on the powerline, they also prevent other devices from attenuating your signals, resulting in a virtually problem-free X10 system that works like a charm.

Eliminates Electrical Noise From the Powerline
One of the most common (and easily correctable) problems that may adversely affect X10 signals is electrical "noise," or interference. The more interference there is on the power line, the more difficult it is for X10 receivers to detect signals from X10 controllers. It's kind of like trying to have a conversation in a room when the music is playing too loud. But the FilterLinc blocks that interference, preventing it from polluting the powerline. Common sources of interference may include refrigerators, freezers, plug-in fluorescent fixtures, aquarium filters, fountains, low-voltage lighting, fans or anything with a motor.

Prevents X10 Signal Absorption
Another common yet easily correctable problem affecting X10 signals is signal attenuation, or absorption. Because some equipment is built with power supplies that kill noise on the AC line – and often they mistake X10 signals for noise – these devices may absorb X10 signals before arriving to the receiving module. But the FilterLinc eliminates those obstacles by blocking X10 signals from getting to them in the first place. The most common sources of signal attenuation include computers and audio/video equipment, particularly big-screen TVs.

Feed-Through Outlet for Added Convenience
But that's just the tip of the iceberg. The FilterLinc also offers several features that have never before been available on plug-in filters, like a feed-through outlet that prevents you from having to unplug the filter anytime you're looking for an available plug. And our 10-amp version is the only similar-rated plug-in filter on the market that's fully ETL approved! Plus its high 49.4dB attenuation at 120kHz provides maximum protection at the X10 120kHz frequency. The FilterLinc is fully compatible with FM intercoms and Home PNA devices. FilterLincs are also safely tested and approved to ensure the highest degree of protection.

Tech Tip: A quick way to test if an electrical device is adding interference on the powerline, or absorbing X10 signals is to unplug the device and re-transmit the signal. If the X10 device begins working after the appliance is unplugged, then the FilterLinc is exactly what you need.

FilterLinc plugs into any 120-volt 3-prong (with ground) AC outlet, measures 2.47"w, 4.26"h, 1.50"d (when plugged in), and comes in a gray finish.
