Looking for the ultimate flexibility and control when it comes to programming and scheduling your home automation system? Put your search to an end with HomeSeer software, one of the most versatile and comprehensive home automation applications in the market. Unlike systems that just offer scheduling and control of X10 devices from your home computer, HomeSeer offers multiple control options, including voice recognition and interaction, as well as access to your X10 devices from the Internet!

If you have dedicated Internet access (i.e. cable modem or DSL) and you want to control and monitor your home while you're away, HomeSeer's built-in Web server brings you full control of all your X10 devices through the Internet. All your devices and event configurations appear on a password-protected Web page, where you can adjust or control your entire X10 system from virtually any computer in the world with an Internet connection! You can also control devices by e-mail, empowering you to send commands from a computer or wireless Web phone!

HomeSeer's e-mail capability works in both directions, enabling it to send e-mail messages in response to  X10 events. For example, if you have a wireless phone that can receive an alphanumeric e-mails, HomeSeer can page you the moment your security system detects motion. To access HomeSeer's dedicated Web page, the computer must remain on, running the HomeSeer software. If you don't want Internet access capabilities, or only want it for limited periods, HomeSeer also functions as a standalone automation controller.

HomeSeer supports a wide range of hardware, including all X10 lamp and appliance modules. It also controls such popular systems as Home Director or ActiveHome, importing information about your X10 system from your previous software so you don't have to input the data all over again. The system can also control any X10 device that supports standard dim and bright commands, 2-way X10 components, and programmable wall switches like the popular SwitchLinc and Leviton models.
The software isn't just limited to controlling X10 devices, however. You can also use it for controlling infrared audio/video devices through such IR interfaces as the SmartLinc PC/IR Linc and JDS IR Xpander infrared controller. You can even control an MP3 player!
With its voice interactive capabilities, HomeSeer offers an extremely intuitive platform, where Microsoft  Agent characters will listen and speak to you! You'll be able to trigger events using voice commands, while still retaining your scheduling capabilities.
HomeSeer also features powerful event mechanisms, enabling you to create events triggered by X10 commands received, absolute time and sunrise/sunset (with offset). You can also configure the system to trigger events by matched infrared commands. Triggers can also be set with conditions, including the amount of time a device has been on or off, various time conditions, or by the status of an I/O device such as a temperature sensor. Event actions can control any number of X10 devices, launch an application, play a WAV file or send infrared commands.

For more precise control, scripts can be written in VBScript, Java Script, or PerlScript. Up to eight scripts can be run simultaneously. The scripting language is the same as the one used in Internet Explorer and offers more than 200 functions.
Other features include interaction with security and HVAC systems. The system includes support for the Napco Gemini 3200 security panel, which communicates with HomeSeer through an available serial port. The Gemini system can notify HomeSeer about any event that occurs in the system, including sensor status change and alarm events. You can then trigger events based on those responses. For temperature control, HomeSeer supports HVAC devices through the use of scripts, including the 3049B and 3049C bi-directional X10 thermostats (sold separately).
